The selection and development of the young horses is key to all future plans.
With the cost of good 3 and 4 year old horses increasing on a yearly basis, and trained horses out of the reach of most including us, we have to select quality from the earliest possible time.
This is not an easy skill, and sometimes we do get it wrong however, our history page is filled with many examples of when it worked out.
We aim to have between 2 and 5 select young horses in each year group and these are composed of both home bred and purchased horses.
Primarily these will be Dutch in origin, however, this does not exclude the use of blood lines from different countries.
Each year we tour Holland identifying foals for our programme after having already pre-qualified them as “of interest” based on their paper potential.
We try to select from a good mixture of older, proven blood and new current lines.
Our behind the scenes research is extensive – we visit breeders shows, auctions and stallion shows as well as having good relationships with many small breeders.
We trawl through in excess of 10 Dutch language magazines each month to keep current – especially on mother lines – which we believe are crucial to success.
We prefer not to sell our chosen foals as a rule, but we would be delighted to offer you a no obligation resume of those we have seen in the current season that match your requirements and price point.
Just because we did not select them presonally does not mean anything because we see hundreds and can’t buy them all. Often the final criteria for selection is gut feeling!
We love to talk about horses and would be delighted to speak to you on +44 1902 212566 if you would like to book us in advance to look for you. Time is limited so you are advised to get on our list early.
