As Negro continues to be a big hit in the UK – we can announce the first successful Embryo Transfer of the season.

In addition, Jenny Loriston-Clarke has selected Chippendale to be the sire to an ET on their good 4 year old mare Sweetheart.

Everdale is making great progress in his performance test in Stegeren, and his latest evaluation is extremely promising citing a great ability to collect.

He has a mare in foal by ET – the donor mare is the grandmother of Chippendale – Jolinde (Landadel)

Chippendale and Chapter Leatherdale will both go forward to the final selections for the WBFSH young horse world championships.

Everdale is from an exceptionally strong motherline, NL-3, and directly is Lord Leatherdale x Negro x El Corona x Clavecimbel

Peter Storr and David Trott handsomely rewarded Ber ST for his stunning test with a 79.4% score and some excellent comments.

He then went on to contest the International 6 year old competition over the difficult FEI 6 year old test.

He made some wonderful changes and showed great ability for the technical level of the test, but unfortunately and quite uncharacteristically was spooked by something in the restaurant – which lead to some tension and hence to a lesser but still pleasing 71.8%.

In the Inter II, Dexter W showed his class. In their first competitive round together since he joined us in December 2011, Nicky and Dexter put in a very good performance to finish in 6th place in a very strong field of 25 starters and behind a top 5 of international riders!

The judge at C, Linda Whetstone had the combination third on 66.7%

All in all a very pleasing start to our premiere league season. Dark Legend qualified for the 4 year old nationals at Myerscough. Ber St has qualified for both 6 year old classes and Dexter is on his way towards those elusive qualification places for the national Inter II championships.

I was fortunate enough to have watched the round live on the internet – quite a special moment.

In the same class, the Don Frederico son Don Johnson scored 76.578% and finished 4th. Dablino and Anabel Baleknhol  (De Niro) was 3rd on 78.244%

Desperados 11 (De Niro) made 81.851% under rider Kristina Sprehe.

Earlier in the show, another Negro son, Validus and Anne Van Olst made their international debut with a very respectable 67.41% in the small tour.

All in all a great boost to our breeding programme stallion selections!

Hubertus Schmidt posted a 68.36% in the Grand Prix on Bukowski who is by the latest addition to our stallion collection Briar.

Early in the week Ber ST competed in the Elementary open finals and finished 6th place. A remarkable achievement as one of the very youngest horses in the class and scoring just shy of 70%. The Elementary open has to have been one of the hottest competitions at that level that I have seen and he was extremely unlucky to have not actually won the class.

The Novice open competition was an equally impressive competition, albeit at a lower level of training.

Once again Ber ST proved he is becoming quite the professional, and finished an excellent 4th with a score over 70%.

Most of all, his attitude during the entire experience has set him up very well for the future and we look forward now to age group classes and regional finals for this summer.

His behaviour was impeccable and performance equally so drawing admiration from all who saw him.

“In all the years of training horses I have never had so many people come and comment on a horse,” said Nicky, “He was breathtaking and we have the highest hopes for his future”

The international judge at the show awarded him a 9 for his trot and commented on his huge promise.

With a score or 80.08% (1 of only 4 horses in all the young horse sections to break the 80% barrier), and a second spot in the class Dark Legend LH has secured a place to the British National Championships.

Dark Legend LH came to us in December 2011 from the stables of Gertjan and Anne Van Olst in Holland.

The combination of the very best of Hanoverian, KWPN and Trakehner blood lines, Dark Legend LH has left some of the best trainers and judges in the world making comments such as “Amazing”, “A true world class prospect”

We very much look forward to the continued development of this most exciting young stallion over the coming season – and a shot at becoming the British National 4 year old champion in September 2012.

From all the horses that competed in the North West regional finals, Ber ST and Nicky are selected as the ones to watch from the show.

This is the second time that Ber has made this prestigious spot in the magazine.

“He will continue with his short break before getting back into work in a few days,” said Nicky. “I wont be taking him to Myerscough PL as I want to have all my attention on the next superstar – Dark Legend. It will be his very first show so who knows what could happen. Could be genius, could be a train wreck!”

“Hopefully we will get a trip down to Hartpury before the finals.I am undecided as to weather to take him to Keysoe before hand, but Addington is definitely on my schedule. It is so good for the young horses, the environment is perfect so the whole team will be there.”

“I cant believe this happened,” said Nicky. “The last time I went wrong in a test was so long ago I can’t remember! He had a little spook at the judges and the flowers and I quickly collected his thoughts as I sailed past the marker!”

Never the less, an excellent result and enough to qualify for the Winter Championships at Elementary Open level.

The combination more than made up for this blip, however, by securing a win in the Novice Open the following day.

In another very hot class of 28 quality entrants, Ber St showed his quality and led from very early on.

“No one could catch him,” said Nicky. “He is just never stops trying; he is quite simply the best horse I have ever ridden and this is but 50% of what he can give.”

“I am just so pleased to qualify for Elementary – this is the level I was aiming at but I will certainly take the win at Novice too!”

Ber ST is having a very well earned mini break before starting preparations to contend two national championship at Hartpury in April.

For this season, frozen semen will be stored in the UK and available through Lickley Horses.

The stallion collection includes

• Chippendale, 2012 KWPN 4yo stallion champion – £1200
• Lord Leatherdale, sire of Chippendale, Chapter Leatherdale and many other top young horses – £1000

She was awarded 8.5 for the walk and trot and 8 for her canter.

Dalivia is the half sister of the Stallion Competition participant Vitalis (Vivaldi x D-Day) who is now in contention for a KWPN approval slot as a result of his performance in this series.

Mother Tolivia is an elite sport(dr) mare by the stallion D-Day who was purchased by Stal 104‘s Willeke Bos with Vitalis at foot. She was the mare champion of Limburg as a 3 year old.

Tolivia had two embryo transfers this season, both ended unsuccessfully – what would have resulted in full brothers to Vitalis.

In 2012 the breeders will put the mare in foal herself, to Vivaldi.

As a breeder, Bos commented that he was very pleased with Dalivia – who is a very long lined and quality mare.

In the previous year a daughter of Hotline came from this breeder and scored 86 in the EPTM.

“It depends on the mare weather we go down the EPTM line or take another route,” said Bos.

Dalivia is not currently in foal and will be aimed at the Pavo Cup.
