Dark Legend LH is a fusion of Dutch and German blood of the highest quality which has produced an elegant and modern warmblood dressage horse.
Above is a video of his very first show where he scored 9 for trot, 8 for canter and 7.5 for walk finishing on 80.08% and qualifying for the British National Championships from an FEI International judge.
Paternal blood lines
His father, Zucchero is a Hannoverian horse by birth, approved by the KWPN.
His sire Depardieu has a dressage index of 141 with 94% reliability and is by legendary De Niro.
Depardieu started his career in 2000 where the elegant black stallion was Reserve Champion at the grading in Oldenburg.
In Vechta at the 30 day test in 2001 he received high points in both dressage 8.36 and in jumping 8.15. In 2002 he was champion stallion at the grading in Denmark.
Then one win after another: triple champion at the Oldenburg state championship 3 years running 2002, 2003 and 2004, he won the qualifications to the German State championship for the 5 and 6 year olds with 8.6 and 8.2 respectively. 2005 he won and was placed in Prix St George and won the qualification to the prestigious Nuernberger Burg Pokal (German Championships for 7-9 year old horses). Depardieu was double National champion in Hannover with his rider Nicole Kochskämper in 2006 and 2007.
Depardieu and Norbert van Laak enjoyed many successes up to Grand Prix, by the end of 2008 he had eight wins and over 30 placings. With a winning sum of almost 10,000 Euros the black stallion belongs to the nationwide group of top dressage horses.
His dam Championess produced the graded stallion De Champ (Daddy Cool) who is approved in several German studbooks.
She also produced the 2011 foal “Totally in Love” by Totilas that sold €37,000 at Verden.
Sold to private owners now, Zucchero is covering few mares, but the KWPN commented very favorably on his inspection.
He produced a uniform collection of well developed foals with appealing front ends and a sufficient rectangular model type. The trot has plenty of scope and very good flexibility of the back leg – which moves actively with a good hock bend. The foals have easy and scopey canter with good balance and length of stride.
Maternal blood lines
On his maternal side, dam Zoe is a KWPN keur mare with competition experience at Z1 level.
She is by Tango who is a son of Jazz out of one of the best mares in the KWPN – O.Bertje keur pref by Contango who also produced the 2011 NMK champion D.Obertje.
Grand Dam Esperanza is keur pref by Doruto and has given rise to many top horses proven in the sport including the graded stallion L’Esperance and several Z1 and Z2 dressage horses and keur mares.
Esperanza is the full sister of the International dressage horse Carramba and the elite sport national dressage horse Felicidad.
Performance
At his very first show, he was one of only 4 horses in the entire age group competition to score in excess of 8. His final score of 8.08 from the International judge included a 9 for his trot. He has now qualified for the British National 4 year old championships.
