Lickley Horses pupil Lynsey Chalmers had a great show at the Badminton Grassroots eventing.
Swancote Countryman, a 15.2hh 11 year old welsh cob x warmblood from Nimmerdor lines was a 30th birthday present from husband John.
“After initially qualifying for Badminton by winning my regional finals last October I knew my dressage needed some fine tuning,” said Lynsey.
“With the excellent facilities an superb knowledge Nicky had to offer I picked up the phone. It proved to be the right decision as we lay in 6th place from 86 starters after the dressage phase and only 0.5 off being in 2nd!”
Chalmers and Swancote Countryman had a “storming round” across country but an unusual pole in the show jumping phase dropped them from 3rd to 18th spot.
“To have a top 20 placing in such a very good company competition is still such an achievement,” said Lynsey.
Lynsey has already qualified for the 2012 regional finals and her plans are to start working towards next years championship and “maybe even gain a few BD points in the process!!”
