Ber ST (Viento Uno W x Purioso) showed his class today in just his second competitive shot in the ring.
With a massive 76.4% in a premier field he was in the lead until the very last to go.
Just under 2% the margin between him and the eventual winner – a horse already qualified.
Ber has attracted accolades and attention from everyone who has seen him.
“He is a true star,” said Nicky. “I have to pinch myself to believe he really is on our team. He is still very immature in his strength – I know this is not even half the horse I will have in 12 months.”
A rest day for Ber tomorrow but Bandit (Negro x Burgraaf) will have to pull his socks up tomorrow. A creditable 70.08% in the national 5 year old class despite having a quite uncharacteristic “teenage” moment!
He came out this afternoon and worked really well – a quick change of tack and tact all in one go!
Badminton qualifiers for him Saturday and then Ber in the direct national qualifier on Sunday.
“Everyone with a young horse is here to qualify for the nationals,” said Nicky. “This is the one we would really like to do, but with youngsters nothing is ever certain.”
